June Update

Hello! I have good news and less good news.
I'll start with the less good: the Backerkit survey obviously hasn't gone out yet. I over-estimated how much time I had to do things as the end of the school year approached (I'm a school teacher) and I wasn't able to get to it within the time I promised.
Here's the good news: school is out for summer! I spent the last two days absolutely blasting through a backlog of orders I needed to ship out, and now I'm working hard on the Backerkit and getting this campaign printed and ready to ship out to you.
I'm going to go ahead and send out the digital version of UVH #8 to everyone right now, so you don't have to wait any longer!
As far as the next issue, Daryl is about to begin illustrating it! We should be able to launch that one in 2-3 months, depending on when #8 gets shipped out and when #9 is completed.
Thanks for your patience.

Hello! Just dropping a quick post-campaign update to give you a rundown of the plan:
- Pledges are currently being processed. In a little less than two weeks the money will be deposited in my account, at which point I can begin to order the rewards.
- In the meantime, I am working on two things: getting the Backerkit ready, and finishing "The Welp." Right now I'm working on the design of the book while Yonson works on the remaining illustrations.
- The Backerkit surveys will go out in two weeks, at which point you'll pay for shipping and have the opportunity to purchase additional add-ons. You'll also get links to your digital downloads once you complete your survey.
- I expect the books and other rewards to be printed and arriving at my home sometime in June, at which point I'll immediately start sending out orders.
That's it for today. Please let me know if you have any questions.
-Caleb
P.S. Next week I'm launching the final issue of my crossover series, Unicorn VERSUS Vampire Detective. You can check out the pre-launch here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/giraffe-design/unicorn-versus-vampire-detective-1-3
Letters are done! + two great projects to check out

Hello. The letters on this book are done! I'm so proud of this issue and I can't wait to share it with you. :)
We have just over a week to go, so I'm hoping we still have time to smash our 15k stretch goal!
In the meantime, check out these projects:
Morgana Pendragon #1
This project only has 19 hours left, so make sure to check it out! Madeleine Holly-Rosing is an incredible writer best known for her book Boston Metaphysical Society. Now she has a brand-new series out, and it's an Arthurian fantasy! (Get out of my head, Madeleine!)
From the campaign page:
"Having lost her magic when she fled England twenty years ago, Morgana leads a mercenary team wherever the best paycheck is. All that changes when she receives a message to return—her brother, King Arthur, is dying. Now, she must not only face Mordred, the child she left behind, but a new threat which may forever change her and the future of her country."

Blood of Atlantis #1-2
The new issue of this urban fantasy by Jon Auerbach is on Kickstarter now! Jon is a great guy who has made some excellent books. I read the first issue and I really liked it! In fact, it will be featured on the Substack I run with Curtis Clow, Ink to Table, next week.
From the Kickstarter:
"Magic is real. That’s a fact Beatrice Stallard has known for more than a decade.
It is not the magic of the storybooks though. There are no wands, no spells, no incantations. Magic, or alchemy, as it is better known, is about harnessing the energy flowing within the Earth. And in her travels, trials, and tribulations, Beatrice has come across inklings and whispers that the myths of yore weren’t exactly myths.
And the big one, the one she is setting her sights on, is Atlantis, the fabled lost city that sank beneath the waves so long ago, never to be heard from again.
Or so the story goes.
Together with her business partner/wizened bartender Svetlana and a couple of newbie Questers she picked up along the way, Beatrice will traverse New York City and beyond to discover the secrets of Atlantis."

That's all for today. More soon!

Art is wrapped!

Hello. Good news, today Daryl finished the art on this issue. That means that we are ahead of schedule, and the books will go to print as soon as the money from the Kickstarter comes in.
Here's a look at a couple of pages we haven't shown off before:
Daryl is as always absolutely killing it with these pages. I can't wait for y'all to read the completed issue.
Before I go, I have to shout-out a campaign by a friend of mine:
Glow #1-7
Glow is a post-apocalyptic techno-fantasy comic book written by Ray Chou, who has been at the Kickstarter game longer than anyone I know and consistently puts out extremely high quality books. I've had the pleasure of getting to know Ray recently, and even played a game of the critically acclaimed RPG he produced, The Wildsea, with him a couple months ago.
From the campaign page:
"Glow is a coming of age adventure set in a world devastated by magic. It's a bright post-fall technofantasy inspired by works such as Nausicaa, Disney's Atlantis, Avatar: The Last Airbender, Dune, and Dark Sun."
If you'd like to check out the book (and even get a free copy of the first issue), here's the link: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/mythopoeia/glow-7-a-post-apocalyptic-techno-fantasy-odyssey
That's it for today. I'll be back soon with more updates.

Stretch Goals!
– Tue, Apr 22, 2025 at 06:23:33 AM
Good morning! After a successful first week, I have some stretch goals to announce:
Yes, we have already unlocked the first stretch goal! All physical backers will be getting Jezebel and Seamus trading cards, which were originally featured all the way back in 2020 as part of the Unicorn: Vampire Hunter #1 Kickstarter campaign.
Our next goal is at $15,000, and will give all backers a digital "process" book, which I'm very excited about. It will have the script for Unicorn: Vampire Hunter #8, concept art, behind-the-scenes commentary, and more. I did one of these for The Knight and the Lion, and it turned out great.
Before I go today, I wanted to share a cool project by a friend of mine, Clay Adams:
The Blazing Bride of Frankenstein
I first met Clay Adams when he wrote a story for my anthology graphic novel Modern Mythology, way back in 2019. Clay is a talented comic book writer, but he's also something of a pillar of the community. In addition to being a frequent anthology collaborator and a prolific comic book writer, he's a regular on the Comixlaunch Podcast with Tyler James Vogel, where he shines a spotlight on comic book creators on Kickstarter.
I actually met Clay in person for the very first time at C2E2 in Chicago two weekends ago, and he was every bit as cool as he is online. As it happens, he has a Kickstarter live right now for the 4th issue of his Frankenstein series:
"In a world of magic and mystery, darkness and doom, a lone hero strides the plains of fantasy.
Man, monster, and myth, he is life born of science--created from death itself.
He is Frankenstein.
And the fate of a universe rests in his hands."
That's the official description from the Kickstarter, but in case you're not convinced, Clay sent over the entire first issue for FREE. You can read it right here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/8edq9qg7y8crzolfzwjr2/Blazing-Blade-of-Frankenstein_01.pdf?rlkey=4ymgwulhn15neovbpan2vd64v&e=1&dl=0
I have read the series and I think it's super fun pulp adventure (which is exactly my jam).
If you're interested, you can check out the Kickstarter here: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/900595556/blazing-blade-of-frankenstein-1-4-complete-first-arc?ref=46be2w
I'll be back soon with more updates.

P.S. I was on the Wednesday Night Reviews podcast last week, which was an absolute blast. You can watch it on YouTube.
