Hello! I dropped the last of the packages at the post office this afternoon.
Originally I planned to launch issue #9 tomorrow, but as these last packages definitely won't have arrived yet, I've opted to delay the launch by one week. You can expect the campaign to launch on Tuesday, September 30th.

Hello. I am in the process of shipping out the remaining packages for this campaign.
Unfortunately, I've been running into some roadblocks with the final design for the RPG supplement, The Welp. I love roleplaying games, and I've always aspired to write roleplaying adventures, but I keep second-guessing myself with game design. Even though I've now written several adventures, I still don't have the confidence that I have when I'm writing comics. Writing a D&D adventure has so many aspects to it that are unique, and I am still figuring out the nuances of it.
I am working hard on the book, but I haven't sent it to print yet (because I'm still fiddling with it). Honestly, it's really stressing me out - but that's not your problem. The art is all complete, it's all laid out, I'm just really not happy with it and I want it to be the best it can be. I'm my own worst enemy here and it has caused me to be behind where I wanted to be.
While we are still well within the deadline I set for this book (December 2025), the rest of the rewards are already here at my home. In fact, I've already sent some of them out. I don't want anyone to have to wait any longer.
So here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to send out all the remaining packages - WITHOUT The Welp in them. I will still get The Welp done and sent out to backers by December, I'll just send them in separate packages.
For anyone who is owed The Welp and backs Unicorn: Vampire Hunter #9, launching in a few weeks, I'll include your copy of The Welp with the rewards from that issue, and I'll give you a small discount on shipping. Anyone who is owed The Welp and does NOT back Unicorn #9, I will send your The Welp copy by itself when it is ready.
Why am I going ahead and launching the new issue, rather than just waiting to send out The Welp when I have it? Basically because Daryl is almost done with Unicorn: Vampire Hunter #9, and I want to share it with you as soon as possible!
I want to stress that The Welp will still be delivered by the deadline. We were ahead of schedule with everything else, and I want to get the next issue out so we can get even closer to the end of Volume 2 (which will end with issue #11).
In the future I won't launch any project with an RPG element until that RPG book is 100% done. Written, illustrated, playtested, and ready for print. Honestly that's for me more than anyone else. I'm still new at writing D&D adventures and I'm being way too precious about it, but I don't want that to hold up delivery on any future project. So if you see a future RPG book from me on Kickstarter, know that it's already 100% ready to go. I didn't do that this time, and I regret it.
The next issue of U:VH will not have an RPG supplement. We will be keeping it simple - just the comic with one variant cover and a few goodies like stickers and trading cards.
TL;DNR: I am going to go ahead and ship out all the remaining packages without The Welp. If you pledge to U:VH #9 I'll include it with that reward package and give you a shipping discount. If not, I'll send The Welp separately at no extra charge to you. You will get The Welp by the December deadline.

Unicorn and King Arthur Crossover!

I'll be honest, the new series is struggling out of the gate a little. It doesn't have the momentum I'd like to see, and it could really use some help.
I really believe in this series. If you like Unicorn: Vampire Hunter, I really think you'll enjoy Lancelot. It has strange magical creatures, emotional character drama, and an uplifting message. Plus it has Sir Gawain, who is probably the snarkiest character I've ever written.

The only thing I don't have yet is "The Welp," which we are still finalizing the design for, but we should be wrapping that up soon and sending it to print.
